GuarenteeQ: If i buy by hw prevention from you guys - who pays for treatment if my dog still gets heartworm disease. my friend bought sentinal from you guys and novartis says that they won't pay for the treatment because you guys get your meds illegaly. so who is going to pay for this dogs treatment? do you back to product or does the manufacturer? A: We have an unconditional guarantee on every product we sell. you can see it on our website or in our catalog. we get our products from licensed distributors and not "illegally"! |because we don't buy directly from the manufacturer they don't give us their guarantee, but we give you ours.
Zema collar with frontline; horses?Q: You recommended using a zema tick collar in addition to use of frontline to someone previously. i have two outdoor dogs and cats, plus a horse; and we live in tick country. (lots of deer and other wild critters too.) should i try using both these products together? and what do you recommend for horses? A: I am not a horse vet so will refer you to your equine vet for that one. as for collar, one i like for dogs is preventic collar. for cats a good ovitrol plus collar is fine. i find preventic collar is best tick product on market for dogs and works for up to 3 months as long as dogs dont get it submerged in water or swim with it on whihc will inactivate it. i usually use preventic collar with advantage topical for flea/tick control, but front line is fine by itself if used once monthly on all cats and dogs

Corneal ulcersQ: I have 2 cocker spaniels, both have allergies, hot spots and one has scratched at her eyes and the vet said she developed a corneal ulcer for which antibiotics for the eyes have been prescribed. the medicine clears it up, but it comes back. any other natural medicines to use or advice? thank you A: You may want to try an omega 3 fatty acid product---check with petmeds for availability. sometimes flax seed oil is a nice supplement that can help over time|at a dose of 1 tea per 20 pounds of body weight added to food daily. also make sure she is on an all natural diet, or you may want to try a hypoallergenic diet to make sure food is not involved. also consider a thyroid blood test as a low thyroid is also common in this breed.
Medium dogs - 85+ pound frontlineQ: Our vet told us if we purchase the frontline plus for 85* pound dogs we could split it among our three dogs. how should we do this? A: We never advise using a product in a manner that differs from the package labeling. please ask your veterinarian for suggestions.

Ferrets and catsQ: I have 2 ferrets and 2 cats, all of which are inside pets, and have fleas. if i were to choose between frontline and advantage, which on would be better, or should i choose 1 for the cats and the other for the ferrets? A: I only use pyethrin sprays on ferrets or pyethrin shampoos as i dont believe advantage or front line is labelled for use in this species. either product is fine for dog or cat
